Well, once again the voting
was split evenly this month between two of the three shows that were
offered for voting in the
Vote for Show 3.1 thread on the message boards, so you get them
both!
Speaking of voting, I'll
make my monthly request, so here it is: if you haven't
yet registered for the
4thellamas.com message board, please do so now. After you do, go to
the downloads thread and
post some
feedback on this show, and then take a moment to
vote for the
download you would like to see released in July. Please try
to vote by the 27th. After you've voted, you can
post a request
for a future download. Remember, this site will be as good as
you help make it!
So, the first show
is from Europe. The band doesn't go over there that often, but when
they do, they often deliver some excellent shows. If you haven't
already purchased the DVD from 2004 in Europe, Long Journey Home: Live in Liverpool,
what are you waiting for?.
This show
definitely sparkles. You have to love a show that has both "Lungs"
and "To Lay Me Down"! Of course, the mid-set acoustic break is
highlighted by two of my favorites, "No Birds Today" and "Notes
Falling Slow", both of which receive excellent treatment here.
The encore
rocks with "Townes' Blues."
Enjoy this one;
maybe they like Europe because it always seems fresh to them.

AND NOW, for show
3.1b!!!
Festival shows do seem to offer something
special, and this one is no exception. The setlist is a big
eclectic, but the playing is superb.
Opening with "Good Friday," the band never looks
back. It is, for the most part, a more rock-oriented show. There are
no acoustic numbers, save a "Powederfiner" encore.
This tour was in support of "Early 21st Century
Blues," and included songs like "Brothers Under the Bridge" and
their haunting version of "One." I think getting a "Walking After
Midnight" encore, after a long absence from the band's live shows,
was a nice surprise as well.
