SHOW 2.9

March 19, 2007: Cafe de la Danse - Paris, France

Voting this month  favored this show from 2007. This was quite an intimate performance, and the sound is truly excellent.

Speaking of voting, I'll make my monthly request, so here it is: if you haven't yet registered for the 4thellamas.com message board, please do so now. After you do, go to the downloads thread and post some feedback on this show, and then take a moment to vote for the download you would like to see released in March. Please try to vote by the 27th. After you've voted, you can post a request for a future download. Remember, this site will be as good as you help make it!

The 2007 tour was in support of their most recent CD, "at the end of paths taken." This release showcases a wide range of styles from the band, ranging from the quiet "Spiral Down" to the powerful "Mountain" to the soaring "Still Lost."

What truly sets this show apart is that it is from a mini-acoustic tour with just Mike, Margo and Jeff, so you get a chance to hear the songs done in a very reworked fashion.

One song from that album that is very different is "Cutting Board Blues," which on the CD is a full on rocker. Here it showcases Jeff's harmonica playing and Mike does some interesting things with the acoustic guitar to get a chunky rhythm going. "Still Lost" soars whether it has a full band playing. Just hearing Margo sing the opening lines is soothing.

I'd love to see the band do more of a full on acoustic set; it is why the 2004 tour, with the Folk Fusion Quartet, is so interesting to me. Long live two set shows! In the meantime, enjoy this beautifully moving performance.
